To infinity and beyond - 07/05/2016
Today was a great day for SPOCK, so a great day for whole Canada. We were flying to America.
The morning started with some fine boiled eggs. Luuk prepared them perfectly to get the day started with a delicious breakfast. After a cup of coffee the big challenge began, trying to pack everything back in our suitcase or backpack, but also get all the luggage in our cars. Our "mini van auto's" are huge from the outside, but rather small on the inside. The challenge was even harder because we were flying in three groups on different times. This meant that not all the cars were returned at the same time, so unfortunately luggage balancing was not possible.
After some advanced tetris, all groups returned there car and checked in to fly to Los Angeles. Due to the +3h time difference between Toronto and Los Angeles we saw a beautiful sunset from the plane (see the image).
Each group collected one or two rental cars after landing in Los Angeles. An one hour drive to the hostel was ahead and directly from the beginning it was clear that this was not Canada any more. Everything was in miles! This needed some extra concentration during driving to not speed to 100 miles/h (maximum speed high way Canada was 100 km/h) , which is equal to 161 km/h. The highways of USA have a maximum speed of 65 miles/h, so 105 km/h.
Arriving at the hostel we heard that everybody entered USA successful and safe. We have six rooms for each four person with two times two-persons beds at the hostel and a restaurant / pub across the street called BJ's. Of course the rest of the groups were enjoying a beer there when we, the last group, arrived. As we skipped dinner due to the time shift of Toronto - LA, we ordered a real large American pizza at the BJ's. The ones with the big crust, and conclusion, they are good!
As we go to bed now, this day was the beginning of the second part of our trip. USA will give us the opportunities to experience a great trip with enough exciting stories the next two weeks.
